FORTECOAT MCrAlY Powders
MCrAlY powders are a type of advanced material used primarily in thermal spray coatings for gas turbines. They are composed of a base metal of either nickel (Ni), cobalt (Co), or both, and are alloyed with aluminum (Al), chromium (Cr), and yttrium (Y). These powders are known for their excellent corrosion and oxidation resistance at high temperatures, making them ideal for protecting components in hot sections of turbines.
The production of MCrAlY powders involves sophisticated processes like Vacuum Induction Melting and Argon Gas Atomization (VIM/AGA) to ensure high purity and low oxide content. The resulting coatings can withstand temperatures up to 1900°F (1038°C) and are typically used as bond coats for Thermal Barrier Coatings (TBC) or for environmental protection coatings
